Moa Terms of Service

Effective November 6, 2026

1. The service

Moa is an app for viewing albums, photos and videos together with people you invite. Photos and videos are encrypted with the space key on the phone, then go to members' phones and are kept on each phone; the operator can't see their content. When phones can't connect directly, they may pass through a server while encrypted (server transfer). Server transfer is free too (section 5). If you use Moa Plus holding, the photos and videos you post may be held on the server, encrypted, for up to 7 days until the receiving members get them (section 4).

2. Accounts and spaces

There is no sign-up. You use Moa with an encryption key created on each phone (the device key). Separately, the app creates one "account key" and keeps it in iCloud Keychain (iPhone) or Google Block Store (Android). A new phone using the same Apple or Google account receives this account key and keeps the same support code and the same subscriptions and purchases. This needs iCloud Keychain turned on (iPhone), or a screen lock and Google backup (Android). If the key doesn't come over, tell us your old support code through Settings > Contact us. If you switch to a phone from a different platform, also send us your old support code through Settings > Contact us, and after checking, the operator moves the spaces you bought to the new support code. A subscription is tied to the store you bought it from and can't be moved, so cancel it in the old store and subscribe again on the new phone. "Take over from my old phone" moves only your membership in spaces, not subscriptions or purchases.

Any member of a space can invite people with an invite code, and a space can have up to 10 members (the operator may raise this for a space). Each person can create up to 3 spaces for free; from the 4th space on, you need to buy "Extra space" (section 4). Joining someone else's space is free. If you delete the app or change phones, your device key may be lost, and you will then need to rejoin with an invite code. After rejoining, "Take over from my old phone" lets you take over your old phone's place and the author name on its photos.

When you leave a space, its photos, videos, comments, name tags and other content are deleted only from the app on your phone. Anything other members have already received, including what you posted or made, stays on their phones as it is until each of them leaves the space (when the last member leaves, the space is gone). After you leave, you can no longer delete what you posted, so delete anything you want gone before you leave (section 3). The operator can't directly delete content on members' phones; it can only order the deletion of photos and videos confirmed to break section 3, under section 8, and each phone's app carries it out. Content is deleted from other members' phones only by the deletions in section 3 (including the operator's deletion), or when the space owner removes a member (the space is then deleted from that member's phone). Face templates for People are made by each phone itself; how they are kept and deleted is set out in section 4 of the Privacy Policy.

Children under 14 need the consent of a parent or legal guardian to use Moa. In the United States, you must be at least 13 years old to use Moa. A parent or guardian can ask us to delete a child's information as described in section 11 of the Privacy Policy.

3. Your responsibilities

Do not post photos, videos or comments that infringe other people's rights or break the law. Moa has zero tolerance for illegal content (including intimate images taken or shared without consent), sexual content, violent content, content that promotes hate, and harassment of other people; if you break this rule, your use will be restricted (section 8). Whoever posts content is responsible for it. The operator can't see content (it is end-to-end encrypted; the only exceptions are the text of a reported comment, a photo or voice comment recording the reporter chooses to send with a report, and the AI text of a reported memory), so please tell us with "Report" in the ⋯ menu of a photo, comment or memory, or in the member menu of the Space tab. When we receive a report, we may restrict the use of the device or space concerned under section 8. If you don't want to see a member, "Hide" hides them on your phone only. Disputes between users are for the users to settle; apart from handling reports (section 8), the operator does not mediate them or take responsibility for them.

Use Moa through the Moa app, in the way it is meant to be used. If you use it through an illegitimate or abnormal route, such as connecting to the server with a program or automated tool other than the Moa app, or modifying the app or server or getting around its security or usage limits, the operator may block that use and restrict the device or space concerned (section 8).

The rights to the photos, videos and comments you post stay with you. You allow the operator to handle that content only as far as needed to provide the service (storing, sending and relaying it while encrypted, and checking a copy a reporter sends with a report). The operator does not use your content beyond that. If the operator receives a claim from someone else because of content you posted or because you broke these terms, you compensate the operator for the resulting loss to the extent caused by your intent or negligence.

Only the person who posted a photo, video or comment can edit or delete it. However, when the person who created an album deletes it, the photos and videos other members added to it also disappear from every member's app; they can be restored from Recently Deleted within 30 days. Photos that can no longer be received because the person who posted them left can be deleted from the space by the space owner. A photo added to another album still shows the person who first posted it. The operator may delete from the space a photo or video confirmed to break section 3 (section 8); the rule above that only the person who posted it can delete it does not apply to this. The comments, reactions and name tags on that photo or video and the AI captions on it in memories are deleted with it, and the titles of memories that include it change to their default titles. This deletion is carried out on each member's phone when their app is open, and the same photo or video cannot come back into that space. The operator cannot delete copies saved outside the app, such as in your phone's photo library, so please delete them yourself.

On supported phones, a memory's title and scene captions are written by the generative AI on the phone. AI text may be wrong or awkward; you can tell us with "Report AI text" in the memory's ⋯ menu.

Copyright complaints: if you believe photos, videos or comments passed through Moa infringe your copyright or other rights, tell the person who receives these notices, 예인 (대표 이호민) (moa@hmini.me), by email or through Settings > Contact us. Please include proof that you hold the rights, the work infringed, and where the infringing content is (the space, when it was posted, and so on). Because the operator can't see content, when a notice includes all of the above we stop it from spreading by restricting the device or space that posted it (section 8), and we tell you. If something is missing, we ask you to add it, and we may not act on the notice until you do. Anyone who files a notice without a legitimate right and causes loss to others must compensate for that loss (Article 103(6) of the Korean Copyright Act). The person who posted it sees the restriction in the app and, if they have a legitimate right, can ask for it to be lifted by sending proof through Settings > Contact us. When we receive such a request, we tell the complainant and the date we will lift the restriction, and we lift it on that date.

4. Moa Plus (monthly subscription)

5. Server transfer

6. Changes, removal of unused spaces, and end of the service

The operator may change features to improve the service. However, if we reduce or remove paid features of Moa Plus or Extra space, we announce it in the app and on our website (moa.hmini.me) 30 days in advance. You can then cancel Moa Plus at any time and ask for a refund of the paid period left after the change (we handle Google Play refunds ourselves and guide you through the App Store process; section 9).

A space that no member has opened for 90 days is removed. We notify members 30 days and 7 days before (you may not get these if notifications are off on your phone), and if anyone opens the space in the meantime, the count starts over. When a space is removed, its server records (albums, comments, members and so on) are deleted, and the space stays in members' apps as a removed space. There you can view the photos still on your phone and save them to your photo library, but you can't add or change anything, and nothing is exchanged with other members any more. Leaving the space deletes the photos left on that phone from the app; photos you saved to your photo library stay there.

If the service has to end, we will announce it in the app and on our website (moa.hmini.me) 30 days in advance. Before it ends, we stop selling new subscriptions and stop renewals, and we help you get a refund through each store's process for any paid period left after the end date. Because photos are on each phone, photos saved on your phone remain even after the service ends.

7. Limitation of liability

Because photos are kept only on each phone, the operator can't recover photos lost through a lost or broken phone or by deleting the app. Please also save important photos to your phone's photo library. The operator is liable under the law for damage caused to you intentionally or negligently by the operator. However, unless the operator acted intentionally or negligently, the operator is not liable for damage caused by things it cannot prevent, such as natural disasters, power cuts, or outages at telecom or cloud providers, the App Store or Google Play, or by your phone's operating system, settings, storage or network.

8. Restrictions and appeals

The operator may restrict the use of the device or space concerned in these cases:

  1. after checking a report and the material sent with it, it breaks section 3
  2. an investigative agency, the Korea Communications Standards Commission or another relevant authority requests it under the law
  3. a rights holder or victim requests it with supporting evidence
  4. it is clearly illegal, or other users are at risk of urgent harm
  5. the abnormal use described in section 3 (automated tools, modifying the app or server, getting around security or usage limits) is confirmed from server records or the like

A device that repeatedly makes false reports may also be restricted. A restricted device or space can't join spaces, create invites or connect to the server. In the cases above, a restriction may also take the form of deleting the photo or video concerned from the space; the operator then identifies what to delete by the ID learned from the report, not by looking at the content. If you disagree with a restriction or deletion, you can appeal through Settings > Contact us in the app (it works on a restricted phone too), and the operator will review it and reply with the outcome.

9. Cancellation, refunds and purchases by minors

10. Changes to these terms

When we change these terms, we announce what changes and when it takes effect in the app or on our website (moa.hmini.me) at least 7 days in advance, or at least 30 days in advance if the change is unfavorable to you. If you don't agree to the new terms, you can stop using Moa and delete the app, and cancel Moa Plus.

11. Governing law and jurisdiction

These terms and your use of the service are governed by the laws of the Republic of Korea. Disputes between the operator and you are handled by the court with jurisdiction under Korea's Civil Procedure Act. This doesn't take away the protection of the consumer protection laws of the country where you live that can't be set aside by agreement.

12. App Store

If you got Moa from Apple's App Store, Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA) also applies. Where it conflicts with these terms, these terms apply to the extent the Standard EULA allows. Apple is not responsible for Moa or its content.

13. Language

This English version is a translation for convenience; the services are the same in every language.

14. Operator and contact

Send questions, requests to see, correct, delete or stop processing your personal information, and appeals against restrictions through Settings > Contact us in the app. Your support code goes with it, so you don't need to add it, and we answer within 10 days.
